Bracket

The photo shows the bracket on a mouth brace. This involves an aluminium oxide -stainless steel brazed connection.
The brazing is carried out in an inert gas furnace using pure argon. No flux is used. For the ceramic-metal connection, BrazeTec CB2 active brazing alloy is suitable. In an argon atmosphere, a brazing temperature of 1050°C is possible. Active brazing alloys do not flow on ceramic materials. For that reason, the brazing alloy must always be applied between the surfaces to be brazed.
The strength of the connections made with the BrazeTec CB2 active brazing alloy is dependent on the base materials and the brazing conditions used. It can in general be stated that, with optimum brazing conditions, failure of a connection which has been made occurs in the ceramic.
More than 30 million of the brackets, as shown, in the photo are produced each year.
