Umicore Technical Materials honoured as Top Supplier by AREVA

During a ceremony on 1st July in Berlin, the global leading power engineering company AREVA, granted their "TOP AREVA supplier" award to 141 German suppliers, out of a total number of more than 8.000 companies. Also Umicore`s business line Contact Materials, providing Absorber Rods, is within this selected group of suppliers. 

To receive this award, suppliers have to comply with about 25 different criteria. Topics like quality, competitiveness, competence of innovation and long-term relationship, very tight rules and standards as well as safety instructions and guidelines for occupational health and safety have to be fulfilled by these selected suppliers. In addition - commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection are important criteria for sub-contractors.  

Mrs. Anne Lauvergeon, Chairman of AREVA, underlined the importance of a trustful and reliable long term cooperation and business relationship.

Absorber Rods (Silver based Alloy) are an important component of the control element assembly for the regulation and safety shut-down of nuclear plants. Since several years, Umicore is supplying Absorber Rods for German Nuclear Plants and meanwhile has been qualified to supply French customers, too.
